Sajni's Sixth Month
Life was so very different for Sajni in her sixth month. First her favourite and lovely grand parents left to India and second we moved to a different house. She missed her grand parents like crazy. It took a while for her to settle down. BUt then very soon she was back in action back to her naughtiness. She liked the fact that we there were multiple levels and was quite intrigued by it at first. Her favourite place turned out to be seated in a recliner with mommy and enjoying the view of the trees from there.
She became an expert in rolling over back and forth and not to forget her backward strokes. She could move across the room with this motion and before we knew she was under the recliner and in all sorts of strange places the gaps one she could find..
Her sleeping patterns got screwed up during the move. It was hard to establish her sleep routine which was the most difficult part for us parents. But her hyper levels continued to increase ..
We performed her annaprasnam at the Siva Vishnu temple, the ceremony to introduce the baby to solid foods... And then slowly we gave her , her first solid food, rice cereal.. She welcomed it so well, we were amazed.. But it didnt suit her little tummy and she threw up the whole day.. But it was a wonderful sight to watch her eat.. she was so eager to know what it was and finally we loved the sight of the messy messy baby
But Sajni was such a darling during these times, when the house of full of boxes .. Thank God she was too young not the stage where she would put stuff in her mouth.. then the move would have been impossible...
Sajni has lots of friends in this community and I am sure summer time is going to be lots and lots of fun..
Sajni experienced her first snow.. She was thrilled to see the snow and her dad was trying hard to explain the concepts to the cutie pie. He let her feel the snow and it was lots and lots of fun watching her enjoy the new experience. We captured some of the best pictures..
Since Sajni likes trees , we decided to put up a little christmas tree for her. This is the first time we are having a xmas tree at home. We invited Shruthi over to help Sajni decorate the tree. Sajni enjoyed every moment of this.
This is how the cutie pie looked when she completed her six months

Sajni's first Halloween
Sajni's Fifth Month
I cant believe that I am writing this blog at the time I got to write her sixth month update. Life is not the same after Sajni's Thatha and Ammama's departure. I have almost forgotten what my little princess did during this period. I strongly remember this , that Sajni's turned out to be a very social darling. We attended a couple of parties and she was such a darling there. She let her amma and appa relax while they ate and she enjoyed all the attention that my friends gave her. She liked
being amidst kids and during these party times, she totally freaked out.
She loved playing with her thatha and ammama and yes loved the famous chellama kuttilu. And they would happily babysit her for us when Srini and I had to step out. Sajni loved being on her tummy all the time. She would just roll over in a second and play with her toys. Started to enjoy toys that made sounds and had lights in them.
Her fifth month was special. Apart from the parties she enjoyed the major two occassions, diwali and halloween. Since it was Sajni's first diwali, we had a grand celebration at home and the little princess was such a sweetie pie in her lovely dress that was gifted by Guha's parents. And then it was Halloween. Sajni was the cute little naughty cat for Halloween. We had a small celebration in our apartment and Sajni enjoyed watching all the kids in their costumes.
We also got our family portrait done. Loved dressing up Sajni for the session. And I know now, how much I wanted a girl. She loved it too and we got some best pictures of her.
It was time for Thatha and Ammama to leave the States. It was hard for Sajni, Srini and I. Sajni missed them like crazy. She cried for a couple of days and the learnt slowly that they were not going to be here. She missed all the pampering and the company to play with. With the move, it was tough for all of us. But being a strong darling that she is, she got over it quickly.
Sajni leant to coordinate well with her hands. She loved to play peek-a-boo, govinda govinda and also did alilai krishnan at times. Its so much fun being with my sweetie pie.

Sajni's Fourth Month
Wow, time goes by so quickly. So quickly that its 10 days since Sajni completed her fourth month and I havent got a chance to update my blog. Oh My Sajni does a lot more than she did a month ago. I hope I remember everything that she is upto these days. The best and wonderful of all is how she has mastered the rolling over act. Yes she can turn over just like that. You lay her down on the floor and you look away and within a few seconds, just before you even realise she is on her tummy. Its so delightful to watch her like that with all that naughtiness in her eyes. She still continues to enjoy her time with her thatha. Oh She loves that and when he sings her song "Chellamma Kuttilu" she screams with joy and happiness. And not to mention, how she gets things done her way with ammamma. She hates it when ammamma watches TV. She feels she is being ignored and expresses that so beautifully. And yes she continues to play Saindhadhu Amma Saindhadhu only with ammamma but nobody else
Sajni has started to enjoy the little drives that we have been taking her to. Her visits to the DC and Baltimore. She also did the Annapolis boat ride and enjoyed every moment of it. Also the little walks that I take her to around the apartment community. During these visits we figured her love for trees. She loves to watch trees, plants... Boy, she is a nature enthusiast and I love it.
The last day of this month is when she learnt a new thing. Apart from responding to amma, appa, thatha and ammamma, she now does something like the Alabhana. Its so cute and you can listen to her all day !! I think thats unique to Sajni and her love for music especially carnatic continues
We have started to have guests at home. Guess we are no longer the parents of a "newborn" :) Sajni seems to love company and she jumps with joy when she sees kids. Somehow she relates to them better and squeaks with joy when she is near them. With our recent Kolu visits, this is what we found out. Coming to that, Sajni celebrated her first Kolu. She liked watching all the bomais and the park. The best of all was playing with the kids who visited us for the kolu. Sajni also attended Srini's office get-together. There were other kids and she happily stayed with the women folk there while I got some great moments to relax. At this point she defintely seems to be a social baby :)
I am already missing her first 3 months. the little things she did to get to this stage. I am waiting for more of Sajni...

Story of how Storks delivered the baby
Sajni,my darling.. this is appa's narration of how you arrived in to this wonderful world
It was 5.15 am and neither Sun nor I was ready. She comes and says the water might be broken. The possibility of the event and the ramifications of the same
required no cognitive interpretations nor time for sending up a gush of nervous energy up my spine. Uptil now, a wishful mind had always thought that it will not be before Friday, and Friday is in the long away future. But not anymore.. there is no distance between the critical moment and now. I cannot say - lemme sleep for another half hour and I shall compensate for that with increased efficiency tomorrow. No sir.. time to be what you are.. that is.. in this case, a man.
After such cognitive feedback, I cool down. I call my friend, namely, Google. What is the difference between water break and water leak.. or is it the mucous plug? Thankfully, she was well prepared for such moments.. she had been packing and ready with the hospital bag weeks ago. I am so glad that she had more forethought than me - this was my afterthought. She says... enough of the surfing.. lets start driving. We look back our house, probably for the last time as non-parents. And as we drive in the car easily wading through the sparse traffic that is helping us (I am the odd man who is *not* driving to work today), everything looks unreal and beautiful. The cartoon comes to my mind, which says that this is the last moment to talk to each other freely that would not involve our future daughter.
At the hospital reception, our report is taken very casually as we are probably one of the many that happened many many times, as they resume their conversation after asking us to wait in the lounge. The nurses are very friendly and congratulate us as they confirm that the transition has happened. We are getting excited now... it is now a definite event, though we do not know how it is going to evolve in the next hours. We keep updating our folks at home.
We are now in the delivery room.. with our ipod running soothing Bach's sonatas. The proverbial push has come to a shove. We are waiting for the doctor.. as the nurses keep changing shifts. We are chatting and watching TV and looking out in the windows to pass the time that seems to have come to a stop. The nurse announces that the doctor has arrived.. now we are further close to the moment. The transition is further down... and the doctor says pushing time. With the nurse and me giving the moral support for pushing, she does exceptionally well in spending the energies during the contractions to aid them, increasing the stamina and duration with each. The doctor and the nurse are so wonderful, their expertise showing in this critical time, how they are able to so fully concentrate on the task as well as keep the cool.
The doctor says the baby has a lot of hair and I see it - she is still inside though. One final push is needed. The doctor applies some gel like stuff.. and the nurse jokes that
the doctor is going to charge for a hairdo for the baby. I am fully trying to motivate her for that final push.. though I sense that it may take even an hour or so... the doctor is showing concerns that she doesn't want to go to a C after so much effort. So we are trying to channel that pressure to deliver... and as we are working on it, I hear the high pitched cry of a baby... and it startles me. It has finally happened and the nurse is showing the baby that is fully awake and crying and covered in a fluid.. is she from the Wax Museum? It is quite unbelievable though all is happening before your eyes and you are not just a mere observer.
The baby gets the first wash and I keep looking at her eagerly. This is her alert time, the first forty minutes or so, and I clearly see it. She is moving her eyes and zooming and testing and seeing the world for the first time. Experience sans pariel. The nurse clothes the baby with a nice color dotted swaddle. And I notice how cute the baby looks, and am glad that this ended so. She is happy as I give the baby to her. We are being congratulated by all as we take pictures of ourselves and the team. She is going to be tall, as she is twenty inches for a six pounds and nine ounces - though these parameters are going to change quickly in the near future.
And of course, as I am writing this, she and her mom are blissfully sleeping next to me, enjoying an existence that is well earned. We all have done this - without exception.
What a wonderful life this is - and true appreciation would be to celebrate it without reservations.
